Rachel Cave New Patterns!

My favorite pattern designer rachel cave has recently updated her website with lots of great work. I love how her work incorporates designs inspired by mid century modern (my fave type of design!). Maybe one day I can buy some of her fabric to make some pillows or even a few skirts!

"e-mags"

Lately i've been seeing more and more  'e mags' popping around online. What is so wonderful about them than a regular magazine is that if there is something you want to have, all you have to do is click the item and it sends you to the site to purchase it!  Matchbook magazine feels like a Kate Spade ad come to life.  It's very girly, preppy, cheeky chic. I am not ready for fall fashion at all.  In LA our summers come late, while the rest of the country is pulling on soft warm sweaters in bright colors and their lovely leather boots with a pair of dark wash skinny's tucked in, I will be stuck in a heat wave of epic proportions (which is happening right now >.< ) and wishing it was acceptable to walk around in a bikini.

We call it Indian summer and it is dreadful, think of thick brown & gray smog skies along with hints of blue and seeing the heat bubbling from the cement/pavement and you will have an idea of what September is like here.

Matchbook is an easy breezy read, like your  best dressed friend tipping you off to her style secrets. Matchbook is free so you can't go wrong by visiting and adding Matchbook to your growing list of favorites.

A Weekend Full Of Weddings

This weekend will be a long interesting weekend not only because it's Labor day weekend but I will be attending two weddings back to back...yes you read that right...one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Now all this wedding stuff is making me think back to my own wedding and how fast time has just flown by, just a few weeks ago I had my first anniversary. So what did I do after thinking about all these weddings you ask? I did what any other girl would do....I took a look back at my wedding pictures. Below are a few of my favorite pictures from that day.

My Imaginary Low-Budget Closet

fall weekend

Sweater, $78
Levi's bootcut jeans, $40
Platform high heels, $100
Vintage handbag, $38
Floral Trimmed Scarf - New Arrivals - 1088152337 - Forever21, $8.90

This go around i wanted an outfit that could transition from summer to fall and i think this is it. I already own the jeans and top, but the bright colored scarf makes me swoon and the cute details on the shoes go nicely with the jeans and give the outfit a bit of intrest. I'm in love with the throw over the shoulder bag so much i'm going to see if i can find it at the Nordstrom near me.

Absolutely Mad-Pinterest

I haven't yet seen the show that everyone is talking about for a few seasons now, Mad Men on AMC. One thing that I do know about the show is the fashion! I truly believe that i was born in the wrong era because i'm constantly looking and allured to mid-century modern design and clothing of the late 40's, all of the 50's and early 60's. Yesterday I strolled by and in the window of Banana Republic there was a sign about about "NEW MAD MEN INSPIRED CLOTHING". Of course I had to go in and then i fell in LOVE with it all. oh to win the lotto and buy all the vintage inspired clothing i could buy! below are a few picks from pinterest of the beloved style from the show.

My Imaginary Low-Budget Closet

I will be starting a online collection of clothing i wish that i had in my closet. All the items will be $50 and under and will contain a few pieces that i own.
nautical summer

Banded bottom top, $20
Indigo by Clarks wedge heel sandals, $50
ASOS saddle bag, $22
Silver earrings, $18
KW aviator shades, $10
Levi's Misses 515 Regular Fit Short, $26

I own the shorts, hoop earrings, and a pair of ray-ban aviators but i would love the stripped shirt, the lovely watercolor red scarf, the comfy looking clark wedges, and the leather bag that i could just pull over when i go on a long walk. This is the perfect outfit for a fun weekend this summer.

Dreams

Over at Creature Comforts Ez (the creator and writer of the site) shared a little about her dream about being a skilled photographer/stylist. she posted a few of her photos that she was practicing on and i think they are really good. But reading her entry i thought about my dream....i would love to own my own bakery one day. I would bake healthier option baked good and gluten free goods too. i've been currently trying out new baked goods on my friends and if they like them i keeping them on file so one day i can use them in my bakery.

i already know what i want to call my bakery and i have a slogan. Because i'm a design nerd, i've already got down my logo ideas and bakery packaging ideas too!. below are a few images of how i would love my small bakery/cafe would be like.

what are your dreams?

Odosketch

Have you tried out Odosketch? it's a free site where you can create a fun sketch with a beautiful soft color palette. The sketched files can be saved to be embed and used online. When you draw, each brush stroke is saved independently, making for cute animated films. You could also save the final illustrations for use in a future printed project. Below is a few very quick sketches i did, try it yourself.

Crusing along...

So lately i've been pretty sad that i haven't been able to ride my cruiser bike because i don't have a decent enough bike rack that can hold it all the way to the beach or a car large enough to thrown it in the back. so instead i've been looking at images of bikes wishing that soon i can ride My candy apple red cruiser again.

My lovely red bike, i've also added a white basket to the front!
